About Promotum
Promotum has been around now for nearly 20 years as a domain I use to host family related things, teach my children about web pages, post useful blog pages and help my family by installing web based tools.
Where does the name come from?
Its latin roots mean “to move forward” and its similarity to the word “promote” meant this word was chosen to represent my aim to help you improve the things you do through the use of technology.
20 years ago this was how many brand identities were chosen. The downside of using a latin root word is that you spend more time answering questions on how its spelled or what it means. It’s not really memorable as there is nothing you can relate it to and few people do latin any more (not that many did 20 years ago either). Brand strategies have moved on since then and many now focus on the psychology of memory and how to make things stick in your mind.
